MOU BETWEEN FRI AND ICAR-IISWC, DEHRADUN

The Forest Research Institute, a premier institute under the administrative umbrella of
Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education working in the field of Forestry research,
extension and education caters its services to different stakeholders including forest department,
farmers, students, self help groups (SHGs) and non government organizations (NGOs) on
different aspects of forestry like nursery operations, planting stock improvement, soil and water
conservation, agroforestry, bamboo preservation, wood seasoning, scientific harvesting of non-
wood forest produces and many more. Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation,
Dehradun, a premier institute working under the administrative umbrella of Indian Council of
Agriculture Research is also caters its services to different stakeholders on different agricultural
aspects like agroforestry and soil & water conservation.
Both institutes have together on a common platform to share the scientific knowledge and
disseminate it to common people for skill development in respective jurisdiction areas in
Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Keeping this in view Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) has been signed by Shri Arun Singh, Rawat, Director, FRI and Dr. P. R. Ojasvi, Director,
Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun. Both institutes agreed upon sharing of technical knowledge
in the field of research, extension and education and disseminate it jointly with mutual consent to
farmers, NGOs, SHGs, Forest Department and weaker sections of the society specially scheduled
castes and scheduled tribes. On this occasion, Shri Arun Singh Rawat mentioned that the MoU
will lay emphasis on both the organizations taking advantage of each other's strength in the field
as well as research expertise and this will generate synergy in the combined efforts of both the
organizations. Dr. P. R. Ojasvi said that both the organizations are rich in the field of research,
extension and education and the joint effort of dissemination of scientific knowledge will
certainly give benefit to different stakeholders and make them skilled and self – independent in
the society. Overall these joint activities will be helpful in livelihood improvement of a common
man. On this occasion Dr. Harsh Mehta, Head, Plant Science Division, Dr. Charan Singh,
Chief Scientist, IISWC, Dr. A.K. Pandey, Head, Extension Div, FRI, Dr. Charan Singh,
Scientist-E, Extension Division, FRI were also signed the MoU. Miss. T. Bidya rendered her
help in meeting and signing the MoU.
